Chambord Castle

Le domaine de Chambord park is as large as Paris intra muros (5 440 ha), surrounded by 32 kilometers of walls. Chambord park is the largest forest park in Europe.

François 1st began the building (1515), Louis XIV (18th century) ended the construction. The castle is built on marshy land (as Florida Everglades … but no alligators, hopefully). This was paradise for hunters : deers, fawns, foxes, raccoons, ducks, swans, … and they are still there ! Chambord castle is huge : 426 rooms, 77 stairs, 282 fireplaces, 1 double revolution staircase.
