Azay-le-rideau, Villandry Gardens

A castle built at the beginning of 16th century (François 1rst), on an island, on piles : that’s Azay Le Rideau castle ! « A faceted diamond set by Indre river » Honoré De Balzac (18th century, classic French writer).

There you will find paintings, tapestries, earthenware, carved antique furniture. sont richement agrémentées de peintures, portraits, tapisseries, faïences rares et de mobiliers anciens sculptés.

Azay Le Rideau castle is surrounded by water and in the middle of a romantic park, drawn during 19th century.

Villandry castle was the last castle (16th century) built along Loire valley. Architecture and gardens were thought both.

You will see 6 different gardens :  vegetable garden, ornamental garden, water garden, sun garden, modest garden and labyrinth. Each garden has its specific atmosphere.
